Henkes, Kevin (2000). Wemberly Worried. New York, New York: Greenwillow Books.
I love this book. It strikes such a chord with me. My oldest son is (and was) such a worrier. He had "but what ifs" about most everything. Like all of Kevin Henkes books he is able to really put himself and the reader in the mind of a child. We are able to see and experience things from the main character's point of view. I love that through friendship Wemberly conquers her fear. It is not by an intervention from an adult. This book is very empowering for young children.
