I have used this book for years with my students. We read the story make tangrams and try to create the animals in the story and then try to create our own. Imagine my surprise when I started using this book today and saw that it was a Notable Book! I would love for others to use this book. It is based on Chinese folktales, so in addition to all of the math concepts that this book teaches there is also a wonderful language arts and cultural connection. It is easy for me to see why this book is an award winner.
