This beautiful picture book tells a Pueblo Indian legend. It tells how the Sun god sent his son to earth, The son was rejected by the other boys. The son went on a quest to find his father.The boy is turned into an arrow and is shot to his father. To prove to his father the Sun god that he is indeed the son, he needs to pass through four chambers. The boy was successful. He was filled with his father's power and shot back to the earth to bring the Sun god's message. This time the people celebrated his presence.
The beautifully colored illustrations in this book remind the reader or show the reader what Pueblo artwork looks like. The pictures in this book always make me think of Native American pottery. The colors that are used have a very warm value that makes the reader feel like she or he is in a kiva in the desert.
